He put a new song in my mouth, a hymn of praise to our God. Many will see and fear the Lord and put their trust in him.
Psalms 40:3 (NIV)
Reflection:
A friend of mine was conflicting with a colleague at work. It was causing her stress and anxiety until she decided enough was enough. She was a child of God and therefore she would cast her cares unto Him. She spent the whole evening dancing and singing praises to the Lord- to the delight of her two year old toddler! The next day, all of her issues were miraculously resolved and her peace was restored.
This testimony reminds us that our praise is desired by and pleasing to God. When we praise, we invite God’s presence and power into our lives. We should make it a point to praise God in both good times (like David in this Psalm; praising God for delivering him from his enemies) and in bad. In this way, we not only receive blessings but we can also be a blessing to those around us.
Prayer:
Dear Lord, Help me to remember to praise you at all times. Amen
