But they urged him strongly, “Stay with us, for it is nearly evening; the day is almost over.” So he went in to stay with them.  When he was at the table with them, he took bread, gave thanks, broke it and began to give it to them. Then their eyes were opened and they recognized him, and he disappeared from their sight. They asked each other, “Were not our hearts burning within us while he talked with us on the road and opened the Scriptures to us?

Reflection:

Resurection day - the first of what we call Easter lies just behind us...

and I want to highlight one of Revd Charlie's favourite Bible stories and like she does, I wish I could have been there or at least get my hands on an audio recording...or at leeeaast a detailed written record of the summary Jesus gave to the 2 disciples walking the road from Jerusalem to Emmaus *(vers27)*
I would love to know what Jesus picked as being the key events leading up to Himself and how He recalled the events. I wish I could feel the burn in my heart which the 2 disciples were feeling.

But do I need to wish for a time travel machine in order to feel my heart burn at the sound of my Saviours voice? or can I experience the same here and now when I read His word, pray and am still to hear from Him, when I feel His guiding force of the Holy Spirit during my daily life?

I believe we can and I have. and I want to feel it more often. I guess its all about how closely we connect ourselves to Jesus and how deeply we share our days with Him. I pray for more for myself..and for all of us.

Will you pray for more too?

Prayer:

Lord, I pray that I continue to feel the burn at the sound of your voice. May  I make every effort each day to connect with you more. In Jesus name. Amen.
